The Legislation

The last decade has seen the introduction of a number of key legislative changes affecting the delivery of services to people with disabilities. Legislation has been enacted in Ireland to ensure that people with disabilities have a statutory right of equal access to the same services, buildings and information as other citizens. As service providers, it is important that all colleges inform themselves of their legal responsibility to support students with disabilities by ensuring that all aspects of the campus and curriculum are accessible.

There are 4 key pieces of legislation which deal with the rights of people with disabilities in education and employment and this section aims to provide a concise overview of the practical implications of each one.
