Civil Service WAM Placements
Applications are currently open to graduates with disabilities for 10-month, paid, and mentored work placements with a number of Civil Service employers based nationwide. WAM placements within the Civil Service are at a grade of Executive Officer. Graduates from ALL disciplines are welcome to apply. However, applicants are required to hold a minimum of a NFQ Level 6 (or NARIC Ireland Foreign Qualifications equivalent) and must meet all of the eligibility criteria as outlined in the Information Pack.
Location of Placements: WAM Civil Service 10-month placements may arise in all areas of Ireland. Candidates are asked to indicate the locations they would be willing to work in on their Civil Service WAM Placement 2027 Application Form. The Civil Service has developed a Blended Working Policy Framework for Civil Service Organisations. However, any blended/hybrid working arrangements are subject to role suitability and the business needs of the organisation.

Application Process: Candidates must complete and upload a Civil Service WAM Placement 2027 Application Form via their WAMWorks account and also apply online to publicjobs at this link. The application process is fully detailed in the below 'How To Apply' section. Reasonable Accommodations for Recruitment: When submitting your WAM application through the WAMWorks Database, WAM will ask whether you require any reasonable accommodations for an online or in-person interview. WAM does not require you to disclose your specific disability or provide disability related documentation to support your reasonable accommodation request. publicjobs will also ask, through their application portal, whether you require any reasonable accommodations for the recruitment process. The publicjobs platform provides the option to upload disability related documentation to support your request. Please note if you require a reasonable accommodation but do not have disability related documentation to share through the publicjobs process, WAM will share any requests for accommodations with publicjobs to support your recruitment and interview process.
Online Information Session: An online information session on how to apply for the Civil Service Willing Able Mentoring (WAM) Placements 2027 will take place on Monday 28th September from 12 – 1pm. This session will provide an overview of the competition, the steps involved in the recruitment process and guidance on how to fully apply. Start Date Graduates must be ready and available to undertake a full-time 10-month Civil Service WAM Placement in May 2027. Specific start dates will be confirmed for successful candidates at the time of placement assignment.
Closing date - 12pm, Wednesday 7th October 2026.
Please note- if you are successful in securing a WAM placement, (i.e have been offered and verbally accepted a role) then you must withdraw any active applications you may have with any other WAM employer. This is to ensure fairness to both WAM employers and other applicants in the process.

Pathway to Permanency Confined Competition
A paid and mentored 10-month Civil Service WAM Placement is presently available under the WAM Programme. In line with the commitment to increase the number of staff with disabilities, the Civil Service runs a separate permanency competition during this 10-month programme.
This separate competition is managed by publicjobs and is confined to those that commence (and subsequently successfully complete) their 10-month Civil Service WAM Placement commencing in May 2027. Under this competition, candidates can compete for a permanent position at Executive Officer level in the Civil Service organisation(s) where they completed their 10-month Civil Service WAM Placement.
Candidates will be expected to have consistent attendance during their 10-month Civil Service WAM Placement to ensure their Line Manager can fairly assess the candidate’s performance, level of competency in the job and suitability to progress to the confined competition.
It must be emphasised that completion of a 10-month Civil Service WAM Placement in the Civil Service does not guarantee a future offer of a permanent position with the Civil Service. Similarly, qualification and placement on a recruitment panel established from any future recruitment competition is not a guarantee of appointment to a permanent position. There is no guarantee of a permanent position with any of the Civil Service employers as a result of undertaking a 10-month Civil Service WAM Placement.
