Sinéad was diagnosed with autism halfway through her time in university. This meant that she only became aware of the supports available to her late into her degree. Looking back now, her college experience came with many unnecessary struggles. Now in her first year of a software development apprenticeship with FIT, she has been given the opportunity to begin higher level education on her own terms and with the awareness of her strengths as well as the help at her disposal. She seeks to highlight the support available to disabled individuals through education, and to empower more people so there is less (and eventually no) shame around being disabled and asking for help.
