Session 1: The Access UCC DS Employability Programme: A Model of Good Practice for Inclusive Recruitment [Wicklow Hall 2]

The Access UCC Employability Programme is designed to help students to make a successful transition from college to the workplace. An additional aim is to support employers to learn about disability and become more “disability confident” when it comes to recruitment & selection. 

 

There are 2 main programme strands: 

 

DS Employability Programme 

The DS EmployAbility Programme provides paid summer internships and career mentoring opportunities for students registered with Disability Support in UCC. Students on the programme undertake a summer internship that is bookended by two important pieces of mentoring; one that supports students to prepare for the professional workplace, and another that supports the students further career development.  

 

Employer Training – Inclusive Recruitment 

Inclusive Recruitment training has been developed to support employers through the programme. There are 3 strands to the training and they are as follows: 

 

  • Inclusive Applications 

  • Inclusive Interviewing 

  • Inclusive Onboarding
