Workshops
At Building the Future we will have three workshops taking place throughout the day. The first workshop will kick off at 10am and the other two workshops will take place between 1pm - 2pm. These workshops will be hosted by employers and will explore some of the most relevant and important topics relating to beginning your career as a disabled graduate or student.
- 10.00am - Tips on Networking, Questions & Confidence Building at the Careers Fair
- Not sure how to break the ice with an employer? Wondering how to follow up afterwards or how to stand out in the crowd? Join Alice and Wyndham from the WAM team for a practical, friendly session packed with tips and advice to help you make the most of your time at Building the Future—before, during, and after the event.
- 1.00pm - Self Advocacy in the Workplace
- Knowing how and when to speak up about your needs in the workplace can be challenging, but it is an important skill for building confidence and creating a positive environment for yourself at work. In this workshop, past WAM graduate Edward Leonard will share his experience of learning to self-advocate in the workplace and offer practical advice on how to communicate effectively with your manager and colleagues, ask for supports, and navigate conversations around your disability.
- 1:30pm - The Best Career Path Isn’t Always a Straight Line
- In today's fast-changing world, career journeys rarely follow a straight path. Join Emma Woolley (Citi) for an interactive workshop where she reflects on her own career journey and invites you to explore how embracing opportunities, change, uncertainty, and even setbacks can lead to powerful personal and professional growth.
