Letter from the Editor
Welcome to the 13th edition of the AHEAD Journal. We have certainly showcased over time a wide range of experience, innovation, best practice and the continuing journey towards UDL. In this edition, AHEAD CEO, Dara Ryder, reflects on the learning the pandemic experience will bring about changes within education and work, and in true UDL style, the latest AHEAD research, Learning from Home 2021, comes to you in a video article.
Prof Fred Powell takes us on a delightful tour of the development of learning and teaching in Ireland, leading to the widening participation movement and how to continue to identify opportunities for creating access to learning for under-represented groups. Kevin Merry takes us through his experience of a whole university approach to implementing a UDL approach to course design. Ellen van Veen from the Netherlands looks at implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities in a case study of four Dutch universities. Conor Thompson looks at the experiences of mature students with disabilities within higher education. And there is lots more!
I do hope you enjoy dipping into the Journal and sharing it with colleagues.
