Thursday 19th - Friday 20th March 2026, The Convention Centre Dublin and Online.
Join us for the ALTITUDE Summit, AHEAD Irelands annual conference that brings together leaders, educators, and professional staff from Further Education and Training (FET) and Higher Education to explore and advance Universal Design (UD) in tertiary education.
Anchored by the aims of the ALTITUDE Charter, the summit provides a dynamic platform to share innovative practices, strengthen inter-disciplinary networks, and shape institutional governance structures that embed UD across the sector.
The ALTITUDE Summit Conference will take place Thursday 19th - Friday 20th March 2026, with opportunities to participate both online and in-person.
About the Conference
The diversity of the tertiary education population is rapidly rising due to a range of factors, including the success of national and institutional policy initiatives. This welcomed trend includes increasing numbers of disabled students, greater ethnic and gender diversity, and greater diversity in the educational and socio-economic backgrounds of our learners.
As a sector, our thinking about how we support student success is evolving to meet the challenges this poses, and many believe a universal design approach must be a central pillar of our response.
The ALTITUDE Charter offers institutions a roadmap to embed UD over time in a sustainable manner by developing related governance structures and working towards advancing UD practice in the four pillars of the Charter:
- Learning, Teaching & Assessment
- Supports, Services & Social Engagement
- Physical Environment
- Digital Environment
Whether you're just beginning your UD journey or leading transformative change in your institution, the ALTITUDE Summit offers community, practical insights, and a celebration of progress in inclusive practice.
Let’s shape a future together where Universal Design is the foundation of an inclusive, sustainable and equitable tertiary education system.
Conference Themes
- Adoption to Action: Leadership and institutional governance models that advance the UD agenda
- Pillars in Practice: UD application in one or more of the four pillars of ALTITUDE referenced above
- Inquiry and Impact: research that evaluates and informs Universal Design implementation in tertiary education
